Dashboards

Dashboards collect your saved queries, notes, headings and images on a grid you arrange yourself, organized into folders in the sidebar, and can be shared with anyone through a public link.

A dashboard is a page of panels on a 24-column grid: charts from your saved queries, section headings, markdown notes and images. You arrange them in edit mode, keep dashboards organized in folders in the sidebar, and share any dashboard through a public link.

To build the charts themselves, see the Query Builder, Funnels, Retention and Heatmaps.

Creating a dashboard

Open Dashboards from the project sidebar, then click + next to the Dashboards heading and choose New board. You can also right-click any empty space in the dashboards list. Give it a name and, optionally, a description, an icon and a color.

A new dashboard is empty. Click Edit, then Add panel, to start filling it.

Viewing a dashboard

The header shows the dashboard's icon, name and description. Next to them are Pin, Share and Edit, and the ⋮ menu.

Above the panels, the time controls apply to every chart on the dashboard:

  • Time range: the period the charts cover.
  • Granularity: how the time charts group their points (by hour, day, week and so on).
  • Chart type: switch every insight chart on the dashboard between line, column, table and the other displays at once.
  • Refresh: click the refresh button to re-run every query on the dashboard, or open the arrow beside it to refresh automatically every 30 seconds, minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes or hour. When auto-refresh is on, the button shows the interval so it's never running unnoticed.

Each chart's header shows its name, its description, and how fresh its data is: 2m ago, or Queued / Computing while it's updating. Click the freshness label to refresh that one chart. Hover the ⓘ to see the query type, who created it, and when it was created and last edited.

The ⋮ on a chart has:

  • Edit (or View, if you can't edit): open the query in the query builder.
  • Duplicate: save a copy of the query.
  • Maximize: show the chart full screen.
  • Export to: download the chart's data as CSV, or the chart as an SVG, PNG or JPEG image. Heatmaps export as images only.
  • Delete: delete the saved query. It's removed from every dashboard it's on, and can't be undone. To take a chart off just this dashboard, use Remove in edit mode instead.

Editing a dashboard

Click Edit to enter edit mode. Nothing you change is saved until you click Save, and Discard throws every change away. If you leave to edit a query, your unsaved layout is kept and you return to it.

In edit mode you can:

  • Move a panel by dragging its header (or anywhere on a section heading). Drop it on another panel to swap the two; drop it on empty space to place it there. Other panels move up to fill gaps.
  • Resize a panel by dragging its bottom-right corner. Each panel type has a minimum size.
  • Select a panel by clicking it. Each panel has Edit, Duplicate (headings, notes and images) and Remove buttons. Removing a chart only takes it off the dashboard: the saved query is kept.
  • Rename the dashboard, or change its description, icon or color by clicking them in the header.
  • Reset panel sizes: the ↺ button next to Add panel puts every panel back at its default size, in its current order. It asks first, and Discard undoes it.

If someone else saves the same dashboard while you're editing it, Save won't overwrite their changes. You'll be asked to reload the dashboard (and lose your edits) or keep editing.

Panels

Add panel places a new panel at the top of the dashboard and moves everything else down.

PanelWhat it showsHow you edit it
QueryA chart from a saved query: an insight, funnel, retention or heatmapAdd panel → Query opens the query builder. Save the query and it's added to the dashboard.
Section headingOne line of plain text, full width, without a card. Use it to split a long dashboard into sectionsDouble-click it, type, and press Enter. Escape cancels.
Markdown noteA card of formatted text: headings, lists, links, tables, bold and italicDouble-click it to write in the panel. Enter saves, Shift+Enter starts a new line, Escape cancels.
ImageAn uploaded picture, cropped to fill the panel or fit inside itAdd panel → Image to upload. Use Edit to replace it, add a description (alt text), or switch between cover and contain

Images can be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB. Notes can include images too: while writing a note, click Image to upload one into the text. Raw HTML and images from other websites aren't shown in notes.

A dashboard can hold up to 200 panels.

Organizing the sidebar

The dashboards list in the sidebar holds your dashboards and folders.

  • Folders: create one with + → New folder, or New subfolder from a folder's ⋯ menu. Folders can be nested up to 6 levels deep. A folder's ⋯ menu can also create a dashboard inside it, rename or restyle it, and delete it. Deleting a folder moves its dashboards and subfolders up a level; no dashboard is deleted.
  • Pins: click Pin in a dashboard's header to add it to the Pinned section at the top of your sidebar. Pins are personal.
  • Search: type in the search box to filter dashboards by name. Folders with a match stay visible.
  • Right-click a dashboard or folder to open its menu. Right-click empty space for New board and New folder.

Rename / style and Duplicate open a small editor beside the dashboard or folder. Duplicate copies the dashboard and its queries, so the copy can be changed without affecting the original. It keeps the original's icon, color and description.

Sort order

The button at the bottom of the sidebar chooses how the list is ordered:

SortOrder
Custom (shared)The order everyone on the project sees. Drag to change it.
Custom (mine)Your own order, which only you see. Drag to change it; Reset my order clears it.
RecentFolders first (alphabetically), then the most recently created dashboards.
NameFolders first, then dashboards, each alphabetically.

You can drag a dashboard or folder into another folder, or out to the top level, in any sort. Dragging to reorder only works in the two Custom sorts. In Recent and Name, the folder you're dropping into is highlighted, and the dashboard takes its place in that folder's sort.

Sharing a dashboard

Click Share in the dashboard's header, then Generate Public Link. Anyone with the link can view the dashboard without signing in, and the charts stay live as your data updates. Click the link to copy it.

  • Time Range Enabled lets viewers change the time range. Breakdowns Enabled lets them change breakdowns.
  • PIN: protect the link with a 4–10 digit PIN, either when you create it or later. Viewers are asked for it before the dashboard is shown.
  • Revoke Link stops the link working.

Shared dashboards are read-only: viewers can't edit panels or queries.

With the assistant and MCP

The assistant and agents connected over MCP can build dashboards for you. They can save charts to dashboards, lay out panels, add section headings and notes, and organize dashboards into folders. In the dashboard, each change needs your approval.
